Craig's Background

In the late 1980s, Craig joined Universal City Studios as the senior IT officer for the Studio Division. The Studio Division, the "city" of Universal City Studios, was made up of 48 different business functions as diverse as equipment rental, retail stores, the mailroom, security offices, post-production services, stock and film inventories, and accounting. Craig led a multi-team, multi-year effort to convert the division to an integrated organization, tied together electronically with a centralized order management and billing system. Craig D. Wilson

Through an approach that focused on using "the right tool for the right job," Craig utilized both off-the-shelf packages and custom-developed software to automate the studio's business functions. Craig later accepted a promotional opportunity to head the data telecommunications project management team, where he oversaw the expansion of the corporation's data telecommunications infrastructure, including locations in Europe and Asia.

Craig next joined UCLA Medical Center, where he was responsible for data telecommunications, infrastructure, and operations of non-mainframe servers. Utilizing project management skills learned at Security Pacific and fine-honed at Universal Studios, he directed the efforts of internal staff and external consultants in the finalization of converting to a state-of-the-art Sonet ring backbone network supporting 10,000 workstations. After bringing the project to completion two months ahead of schedule, he then addressed a two-year backlog of projects, completing them in less than four months. He later negotiated contracts with telecommunications providers to establish a fixed-price, guaranteed service level for extending services to medical clinics throughout California.

Craig then joined Cendant Corporation as the director of project management, analysis, and staff development. He directed the project-related activities of multiple teams that, at times, exceeded 200 personnel, with annual budgets of up to $15 million. Key project efforts included the reengineering of enterprise-level custom software systems to address the three Fortune 500 corporations that were merging. He also directed an internal initiative to develop and train staff in a custom software development methodology that greatly improved the productivity of the development teams.

After Cendant closed their West Coast offices, Craig accepted a temporary consulting opportunity with the Institutional Services division of TD Waterhouse, developing software for the corporation's international wireless e-commerce offerings. Craig's contract was extended so that he could train the IT staff in object-oriented analysis and design techniques, as well as create customized software development methodology for the group. Sensing an opportunity to better utilize his skills and experience in helping IT organizations, Craig decided to formally establish his own consulting practice.
